Sports Massage in Northumberland

It doesn’t matter if you are a sports person, builder, driver or an office worker, sports massage could be of benefit to you.

Everyday life is full of stresses, whether you’re driving or in an office your body could be suffering from everyday tension in your shoulders or neck.

Massage is a natural therapy, which has probably been in use since the creation of mankind. It has been a method of treating most musculoskeletal problems for thousands of years. Techniques used by Sports Massage Practitioners have been developed over many years to ensure efficient and effective results are gained from each session.

Gentle massage stimulates the nervous system and the skin causing the release of chemicals which are naturally produced in the body. Deep tissue massage stimulates the circulation system, increasing the supply of oxygen and nutrients to the soft tissues of the body. Every muscle in the body is surrounded by connective tissue, this is called fascia. The fascia can become tight which prevents the muscle from working normally. Releasing the restrictions in the fascia over the muscles plays a huge role in returning the muscles back to normal working order.

Ever thought of making an appointment for a massage because your shoulders are tight or you lower back is sore?

Sports massage helps to relieve many day to day problems such as sprains, tension, fatigue, sciatic pain, repetitive strain injuries or work based strains or injuries.

Here at MFHealth we use sports massage as a preventative measure for injury as well as to aid recovery. Injury prevention is an area where the importance of massage should not be underestimated, especially if it is mixed with exercise. Massage is one of the only treatments that can be specifically applied to help prevent injury, not only in sport but in terms of posture and forms of stress. Sports Massage is the management, manipulation and rehabilitation of soft tissues of the body, including muscles, tendons and ligaments.
